About the Author
Pat Craven is a qualified social worker and probation officer. In 1999 she created the Freedom Programme for survivors of domestic abuse to women. In 2008 she published ‘Living with the Dominator’ a book about male violence to women. In 2011 she wrote the companion book, ‘The Freedom Programme Home Study Course’ for women who could not access the Freedom Programme. The book ‘Freedom’s Flowers’ was inspired by the session of the Freedom Programme which focuses on the effects of domestic abuse on children.

It is never ok to stay with the abuser it never works out to be ok life spirals out of normal increasingly malignant multiplying sick patterns of behavior for every one involved. I did receive this book as a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have read other books by this author and she never fails to deliver.�

This book we meet our main character Andrei out on a job. We see him again going up against a powerful Russian bidding on an young lady. Andrei knows he has to out bid him because he knows the young lady's fate of death is sealed if he wins this young lady.

The young lady we meet is Cassie. She is 18 years old. Has lead a life of solitude basically as she is home schooled and lives in a quite church community.

Andrei seems like the perfect gentleman with Cassie. He knows how sheltered her life has been. He doesn't seem to take advantage of her. Andrei takes her shoppimg, takes her to see the city, and tries to show her what the world really looks like, it's not as sheltered as she grew up with.

Cassie is a young naive girl. She doesn't know what things are. But that's not her fault at all, it was just how she was raised. Her parents thought that hiding the world from her would protect her when it actually seems to have hurt her.

Cassie and Andrei do seem to have great connection with each other. Andrei is very open and honest with her. He is patient and kind to her as well.

Why would the parents sell their young daughter in exchange for money if they live such quite God fairing life? How did the father get into so much debt that he had to sell her?

OWow loved it. Mafia and romance. Plus bonus story

I love Alexis Abbott's writing. She is a one click and buy for me. The stories are well developed, lots of details but not over detailed, and a kick of romance. You can connect to the characters and feel their bond growing. I would read this again over and over.
Overview. Cassie lives a very sheltered life. Her family home schooled her, and limited what she was exposed to because of sin or God's blessings. She turns 18, and her strict father has decided who she will marry. She looks at all her fellow church members, but her father has chosen outside their community. Cassie is pushed onto a stage in her underwear in a room full of men yelling cruel things to her. Andrei is the bodyguard on duty tonight at his mafia bosses party. He was not expecting to be at an auction, let alone an auction for sex slaves. But when he sees Cassie, he must have her. Now he is shocked that he just bought himself a wife. What is a hit man going to do with a bride? Would his new wife except him as a husband as well as a hit man?

She is home schooled and being taught to obey her God and her future husband. While she is excited to be turning 18 and matched with her unknown husband, she would be distraught if she knew her father's plans. Luckily Andrei, the hired muscle for the event she ends up at, rescues her from certain tragedy. But now they must marry... Can she turn her 1950's obedience into the perfect mafia match or is she doomed???

"Gene Control" was the perfect compliment to that book

This is a fascinating book. I purchased it after becoming interested in the subject after reading Dr. Robert Weinberg's popular book "The Biology of Cancer". To my pleasant surprise, "Gene Control" was the perfect compliment to that book. More than just a book about epigenetics, "Gene Control" is an extremely well written book, easy to read, and deals in depth with a wide array of topics regarding DNA, RNA, protein, and their control mechanisms. The illustrations are simple but very effective. It could easily be titled "Mysteries of the Nucleus Revealed". I highly recommend this very interesting and current book.
