Same book as US ttile: "The Theoretical Minimum: What you need to know to start doing physics"
By KNL
BEWARE, this is the same book as the US title "The Theoretical Minimum: What you need to know to start doing physics". I know, as I made the mistake of ordering it, hoping it was a different book by the same authors. That said, it is a great book, so chose one and go for it!

How Classical Mechanics differs from The Theoretical Minimum
By Chris C. Hill
Susskind-and-Hrabovsky's The Theoretical Minimum was published in January 2013 to great acclaim. Sales were brisk enough to justify this second paperback edition in February 2014, renamed Classical Mechanics to better correspond to a follow-up volume in the works, Quantum Mechanics. While Classical Mechanics is basically the same as The Theoretical Minimum, it is superior to the first edition in one important way: scores of errors in have been corrected in both the text and the math. For anyone trying to work through the physics problems in this book, this eliminates several potential hours of useless head scratching -- or head banging.

If you _must_ have the first edition (say, because it's hardbound), Hrabovsky has published a list of the errors in it at www-dot-madscitech-dot-org-slash-tm. That page separately lists two different math errors in this paperback second edition, Classical Mechanics. Best of all, the page also provides worked-out answers to every exercise in the book.

To read in-depth, five-star reviews of this outstanding volume, see http://www.amazon.com/Theoretical-Minimum-Start-Doing-Physics/dp/0465075681/. For learn-it-yourselfers, it's a dream come true.

I should have read this book when I was in college (if it existed at the time)
By Diogo
Why so much emphasis is given to the concept of momentum?
Where does the Lagrangian come from and why does it work so well?
What is the need for an abstract entity such as the magnetic vector potential?
These are just some of the questions that puzzled me for a long time and that this book explains in an elegant and accessible way.
Looking forward to vol.2 on quantum mechanics.
