An enjoyable, well rounded, and cohesive geography primer

I was asked to look this book over and post my honest review. The promoter was kind enough to provide me with a copy. I was very happy that my opinion was sought out regarding this book as one of my children, though older than the age bracket, reads at about this level. I do what I can with him to help expand and reinforce what he is learning in his specially tailored school curriculum. So this gives me the ability to work with this book and see how well the projected age group fits. Although I read mainly fantasy, I was extremely happy to have something to read with the boy in the realm of science, which is a favorite of his. This fits his curriculum well.
I was very pleased with how clear and simple the facts are presented and explained. Science textbooks can easily become bogged down, especially the ones for the older age groups, so this gives the younger set a nice base from which to review and enhance as they age. It is written in a "fun" way too, which makes the task of learning less odious. It reminds me a little of a book on the solar system and space that I once had as a child. I could see kids curled up in the back of their bus with their tablet or kindle reading this, or a physical copy, just as I had at that age with my book. Well done, author. You've got a good balance here.
I was also impressed at the breadth covered in this little book. Even though it is simple it is also very thorough, which pleases me greatly as over the years I have picked up books that do not meet my quality standards when it comes to my kids. Always a sad thing, so I am pleased to say that this will not be discarded in irritation. It even covers how the length of a day varies a bit from place to place, which was not taught (to my frustration) in the books I had as a child.
Regarding typos, I have only caught a few, ones that stand out are a "that" instead of a "what," a missing l in flood, and a few missing apostrophes. Not bad at all, this isn't gong to endanger any child's spelling or grammar studies. Also, this book, in some areas, could spark interesting discussions on what the differences between "Earth," and "earth" are, helping pave a way to understanding subtle differences. Not too bad. It knocks a little off of my technical star rating, but not my enjoyment star rating.
I will be looking into some other titles in the series later, as the back matter lists them, and I do see some that my son would likely enjoy. It won't be right away, but definitely going on my "to get" list. It may be time for me to figure out how to set up his own kindle library.

We love the subject matter and format of this book! It's a little outdated, with Pluto still being a planet and all. But the chapters are the perfect length. Easy for teaching our oldest fun, fast facts about our world!

Great format!

This is a fantastic format for a children’s book that I am not accustomed to seeing. Usually when I have read books with my young cousins or have seen them read, it is usually completely different content then this. “The 30 Most Amazing Geography Facts” is a great book that both educates children, as well as being interesting for them to want to continue reading. It isn’t so simplistic that children in a higher reading level would be bored, but at the same time, it wasn’t so difficult that my younger cousins did not become frustrated with the content. The information is set up in way that is easy to understand and makes the learning process fun, but not discouraging. I liked the aspect of having some more challenging words within the design of the sentence structure as well because it made it more of a challenge for the kids to try and work out the words using context clues, a type of critical thinking that they will need in the future.
